Dr.-Ing. Antoun Khawaja
Dr. Antoun Khawaja is the Managing Director and Chief Scientist Officer of Khawaja Medical Technology GmbH. He received his Diploma in Biomedical Engineering with honors from Damascus University before earning his PhD summa cum laude in Electrical and Biomedical Engineering from Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT).
After more than eighteen years of intensive professional experience as a scientist, development engineer, and manager in the industry, including Cardinal Health, Pfizer, and ERT, Dr. Khawaja is considered a key expert in the field of advanced biosignal processing, especially in cardiology.
He developed state-of-the-art algorithms for fully automated diagnosis of heart disease using analysis of electrocardiographic signals. He also succeeded in developing a method to predict certain life-threatening cardiac events hours before they actually occur.
Using the concept of model-based design, he and his team are currently working on novel cardiac systems and algorithms for various applications, platforms and purposes.
